Acromegaly Support Group
Acromegaly (from Greek akros "high" and megas "large" - extremities enlargement) is a hormonal disorder that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH). Acromegaly most commonly affects middle-aged adults and can result in serious illness and premature death. Join the group to discuss symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments.
I had never heard of the twins until I read your post. I took the liberty of doing a Google search and have come to the conclusion that the twins are a product of too much plastic surgery.

In the photo of the twins you can see that their hands are not enlarged, nor do they have frontal bossing. This is just my observation and of course I could be wrong since I don't know if they have any of the unnoticeable symptoms of acromegaly. They do remind me of the "cat lady" in NYC who has admitted to numerous plastic surgeries to make her look like her cat.
The twins may also suffer from body dysmporphic disorder:
What is body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)?
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a serious illness when a person is preoccupied with minor or imaginary physical flaws, usually of the skin, hair, and nose. A person with BDD tends to have cosmetic surgery, and even if the surgeries are successful, does not think they are and is unhappy with the outcomes.
What are the symptoms of BDD?
Being preoccupied with minor or imaginary physical flaws, usually of the skin, hair, and nose, such as acne, scarring, facial lines, marks, pale skin, thinning hair, excessive body hair, large nose, or crooked nose.
Regardless of the reasons for their appearance, it is sad that people are making fun of them.
Thanks for your post!

Igor Bogdanov happened to be my closest neighboor in Paris years ago, we shared a common patio.
The twins have definitively something different, but I don't think it's Acro : too much surgery ? A different illness ? Or too much artificial GH when they were young, to try and look "better" ?
Saw him everyday without make up (for TV), and sometimes met his brother Grishka.
Igor had a clear voice, was very-very active and no foggy brain. He never complained about fatigue, had normal-small feet, a strange face but not the Acro way (quite fantastic eyes and not puffy).
2nd possibility :
If he had Acro, as it was 13-15 years ago, when I'm supposed to have began with this desease, could Acro be contagious ? (it's a joke !).
It has been mentioned by several people that their features are a result of Acromegaly rather than excessive plastic surgery, but couldn't quickly find any facts to back it up.
Mish is probably in the best position to comment, having lived near them and seen them first hand.
I didn't know if they had a website, where they discuss what's wrong with them (if anything), but would be interested to read it if anyone finds the information.
I'm going to keep an open mind on them, maybe it is due to excessive plastic surgery, or maybe they do BOTH suffer from Acromegaly?

We all came to the conclusion they have had too much plastic surgery as there was no mention of other symptoms.
Just wanted to mention that it was Berthe who lived close to the twins. It's okay- I often get names wrong when I am replying on the discussion. ;-)
It is interesting if they look like they do because of GH injections. I read that years ago many celebrities would travel to France and Switzerland for these injections, as they are banned in the U.S. I don't think they have gigantism, as this occurs in childhood (mostly puberty) and they would have grown extremely tall and it would have been obvious much earlier that they suffered from the disease.
There are a few other celebrities that I think look much different now that in the past. For example: Sylvester Stallone (who has admitted to injecting GH) and Mickey Rourke (bad plastic surgery) and a few others whose names escape me at the moment.
Take care,
Mish
You're right, if they had Gigantism at a young age due to high GH levels, it would have been evident many years ago and not until they've reached their 50/60's.
If their alleged acromegaly is due to GH injections, what a great way of showing people the danger and side effects these drugs can have on our bodies. It's a shame, that the short term gains result in long term losses. Unfortunately when we're young it's easy to overlook the dangers associated with things, with youth on your side somehow you feel invinsible and have the belief that it won't happen to you! Clearly not in their case.
This of course, could all be down to plastic surgery, but would someone actually pay to look like that. They clearly were attractive men several years ago, so find it hard to believe that they would both want to have the same procedures carried out. But if they do have Acromegaly (due to GH injections or a tumour) I applaud them for not locking themselves away and keeping a high profile.
I saw them 15 years after their first photos and 15 years before actual look.
Here a TV show (in french) where you can see them from all sides.
The journalist ask them again and again why their chick is so long but they don't answer.

I believe it's excess of GH injections in order to stay young.
We have prognatism - they dont. They have long and thin chin.
We have the lower lip to big - they have both lips botox-like.
You can continue the list...
And no gigantism, they are medium height.
Our young friend Acrojaw should have a look on it and say if it is what he feels happened to him, of course less exagerate. May be helpfull for his dialogue with doctors.
wanted to write chin, not chick. Sorry.
Don't forget that a lot of people (especially athletes and people in the public eye) abuse synthetic growth hormone as an "anti-aging" or performance enhancing drug. If they are motivated to get plastic surgery, I am willing to believe that they would intentionally take growth hormone as well.
They were very much in the public eye and aware of their appearance, so could very well have taken GH supplements to keep them looking younger and more toned.
