At the first AA meeting I attended I saw the word "God" on the Serenity prayer card and joined in the prayer at the end of the meeting. I saw the Steps on the wall and literature around the room. It did not put me off - I was too ill to have the luxury of choosing an opinion at that time.
When I started in AA I was agnostic. I was still agnostic until a couple of years ago when I found a sponsor whose sobriety I admired and whose message I, at last, understood.
My question is - and it is addressed to non AAs as well - would the word "God" deter you from looking at a method of recovery if you thought there was a possibility it might just work for you?
