having surgery on April 1 2009
Working / Worked
The surgery wasn't as bad as I thought, I had a very good doctor. The radioactive iodine treatments and thyrogen injections is what I'm anxious about.

Feel much better but still neeed to closely monitor thyroid functions
Working / Worked
worked in the sense that it kept things from getting worse, but the extreme fatigue never went away.

Feel soo much better. Gained weight, but I rather have a scar and a little weight than to be dead from cancer.

Easier than you'd think. One month later I just have a small scar. Pretty painless procedure.

so far so good. The scare is healing nicely and I feel much better then before surgery!

The total thyroidectomy for a multinodular goiter is what found the cancer. The pathologist stated in his report that he felt it had good margins. In other words the surgery got it all. I used to work as a pathology transcriptionist so I know this is not always true.

2 very large lumps in right upper and left lower thyroid. 2 inconclusive biopsies so thyroid was sent to lab during op which was done 17 nov 2007. awaiting results, docs expecting ca.

Was painfull right after surgery but healed up well with only one minor problem I had a reaction to the suitures used inside. Scar took longer to heal because of this but did heal up well. Was horse because of the surgery has gotten better but still from time to time my voice gets horse. The pathology report show one nodular was precancerius of a more rare type but the other was more common type I think it was fillicular or it was papillary.

My thyroid was removed in 1999.
