I love the tattoos that I have gotten to cover the scars. I do not experience the actual getting the tattoo as a substitue for self-injury however. Right now I have some significant scaring from my self-injury on my forarm. I will not get a tattoo to cover this up because I do not want a tattoo there. I am still considering my options. But at this point I am feeling ok in taking responsibility for my self-injury. It is what it is and I am dealing with it as honestly and as quickly as I can

best and most creative outlet. You pay to have it done so it is limited, and it's not you hurting yourself. Someone else is actually doing it to you, and it's done in a positive way that brings positive attention to yourself rather than negative. Always good.

I love tattoos but I only allow myself to get one when I'm in a safe headspace and not feeling the urge to injure.

I have 4 tattoos. Like anything else, it feels good at the time and the pain while it's healing is great, but it wears off as the pain does and then the urges return.
