I see a therapist. Just being able to open up and talk to someone without having to hold back has been so helpful. The outside insight has been so helpful and refreshing.
I have found that talking about the events too much leads to more anxiety and flashbacks. I prefer to read, watch films that are not violent, etc.

Talking to him often leads to fighting, frustration, and him saying things just to agree with me (lying) or not believing the horrible things he does are wrong.

Talking to friends isn't that great, because I am a very private person and embarrassed that I am with someone who treats me like this. I makes me not want to tell anyone all the details and really get their advise and help.

Talking about it has always helped. It's a lot easier to talk about now than it was when he'd first left. Of course he did very destructive things to the kids and I, so that was hard to deal with as well.
I have people I have been able to vent with over the years and it really helps a lot to understand I'm not crazy, and that these situations would be hurtful to anyone.
