(also known as Thyrax, Euthyrox, Levaxin, Eltroxin, Levothyroxine, L-thyroxine, Synthetic T4, Levothroid, Levoxyl)
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (thyroid hormone). As the hormone is chemically in the L-form (instead of D, see chirality), it is metabolised much slower than physiological thyroid hormone, which has a shorter half-life. more at Wikipedia

Synthroid Reviews

Working / Worked
I have been told by several endocrynologist that the generic vs. the brand name synthriod are different in formula and to stick with the brand name for this medication.
Working / Worked
Since the onset of Hypothyroidism I had my meds adjuted several times. I get my blood checked twice a year just to make sure. If I feel more tired than usual it could be that my thyroid is trying to adjust levels of the hormone in my system. Menopause is a bad time to pinpoint the symptoms because some of the depression sypmtoms are the same as thyroid sypmtoms.
The meds are working but are either too much hormone or not enough. Some of us fall somewherein between.

I've only been on levothyroxine for 5 weeks, my blood test will be next week. My brain fog has disappeared though. :)

Working / Worked
I have been on Synthroid the whole time. My dosage has been adjusted many times over the years. I am on 200 mcg right now.
Working / Worked
Good, when we found the right dose. it gave me a sore throat at first.
Working / Worked
First .137mg then .125mg. I have been on this medication since January 2008. After a change in dosage my levels were normal. I had problems wih nausea never threw up but went through the day with a constant nauseous feeling. When my dosage changed I felt better. My hair is still brittle and breaks off very easily. I also get very cold all of the time I live in Nevada of all places!
Working / Worked
I have been on Synthroid for all but 5 years since my diagnosis. I've tried generics for up to a year and name-brand for the majority of use. I've used 100-125 mcg Synthroid with 2 daily doses of Cytomel for the past few years.
Working / Worked
it seems to be doing well for my daughter, she was a little late on all her milestones but she's a very smart little girl, she talks and really understand most of what you say to her
