(also known as Thyrax, Euthyrox, Levaxin, Eltroxin, Levothyroxine, L-thyroxine, Synthetic T4, Levothroid, Levoxyl)
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (thyroid hormone). As the hormone is chemically in the L-form (instead of D, see chirality), it is metabolised much slower than physiological thyroid hormone, which has a shorter half-life. more at Wikipedia

Working / Worked
For six years I was suicidal. Zoloft sort of helped but made me so apathetic I had a 1.5 GPA and regularly came to school with my hair wet and unbrushed. My pediatrician finally took me off it and my GPA shot up to a 3.75 but I had anxiety and was still depressed. So the doctor tried Paxil Prozac Lexapro and Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin made me absolutely numb to the point where I was cutting myself. Finally I went to a psychiatrist who put me on Synthroid it was my thyroid all along.
