Husband passed away June 8, 2009 at the age of 49 from RCC
Worked good, after 6 mo., the scan showed new places so he went on torisil. Only side effect, loss of hair.
Tumor has shrunk 25%. Side effects are getting better with each progressice dosage treatment of Sutent.
Sutent worked for one year and then failed. Nexavar didnt work at all. Currently on an aggressive four week radiation period to try and reduce the size of the tumor which is filling up the lungs and heart with fluid. If that happens to work considering a trial at the Mayo Clinic. He has lost 30 pounds in the last 3 months. It is getting to the scary point
Just starting this week, will update after our first cycle.
working - ct scans chest, abdomen, pelvis quarterly - ct of neck at 6 months - echocardiogram at 6 months, bloodwork at 3 weeks doctor at 6 weeks --
managed side effects of mouth and hand/foot syndrome
Been on Sutent for over a year now and it is shrinking the remaining cancer
3rd Cycle and I'm told I am lucky not only has the cancers stopped growing they have shrunk a little. Side effects are bearable, a little uncomfortable in the mouth and an oversensativity to hot and cold drinks etc and loss of taste.
still on it 3 months now
My father in law was on Sutent for about 16 months. While he was on the Sutent, his tumors shrunk about 19%. It stopped working after about 14 months. The side effects were that he had blisters in his mouth. He said that most foods tasted bad, his feet would swell and get big blisters.
