I know people who swear by subutex/suboxone as a 'miracle' cure, but for me it only very slightly eased the turkey, and I was never really clear when to start taking it-package says 18-20 hours for me that was way too late. Good for some, bad for others...

My partner always brought subutex on the "black market" it helped him to withdraw but then the "tex" became as much as a problem as the heroin was and then when he could no longer buy the "tex" he got back on heroin again.

I found that bup would hold the cravings and slightly reduced the effects of heroin if i weakened and had a hit

did make me feel less sick but did not help with mental withdrawel. Couldn't take it and shot up about 12 hours after I took it because I thought it had been enough time. Instead felt much much worse, vomitting, etc.

The problem is, I have chronic pain so I actually have to use pain killers sometimes. I have to get off the sub. and switch to pain killers when it gets really bad. A terrible situation.

I increased my methodone over a period of almost 2 yrs & when on 10mls I went onto subutex. Almost immediately after starting subutex I felt positive, open-minded & happy. I felt I had finally kicked my addiction. I told my keyworker that I no longer felt that I needed any medication & I did not want another script. I had not used since getting pregnant with my son & he was now 1 yrs old.
We did however compromise & I reduced & stopped over 4 wks. Within a few months later I was using again.
