Gentle yoga stretch or Alexander Technique stretches or resting flat for 20 minutes until the ache goes away which it does nowadays but not when I was first ill. I need to think more stretches to combat the tightening. Muscles do have memory and respond better when I make sure they are in the right place when sitting and standing.

Although its hard to stretch in certain directions, sideways, and up, i stretch forwards to my feet sitting flat. Hurts to stretch my neck still.
