I had a spinal shunt implanted in '99 and that worked for a while, but the cyst that caused the problem originally is growing back, so I got a head shunt last October. I still have headaches, but I'm functional.

The shunt seems to be working ok. Arianna has formed a small marble like ball on her shunt and has to wear headbands to keep the fluid down. When we got to Rileys they said that was very common.

I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor and hydrocephalus at 8 yrs. old. I originally had a VP shunt placed in 1991. In 2002 I developed an infection in the shunt canal. The shunt was removed and I had the ETV procedure done. I have been shunt free for six years without any complications. I now am able to live my life symptom free and worry free.

I've had 8 shunt related surgeries. Some were blockages, others were infections. I've also had 4 valves in all and only had the entire shunt replaced once.
Working / Worked
I have had numerous revisions and complications (brief paralysis eplipesy and coordnation problems) I have have clinical depression and ADHD.
