I have 5 shunts the year I was 4. The doctor put in a short one and that lasted eleven years. I had a shunt put into my left ventricle when I was fifteen and have had it replaced 3 times. My most recent shunt has been in since 2007.

My son had his shunt surgery in 9/17/07 and to date no revisions on his shunt.

It has worked for us he has not had any revisions.

stillens shunt has been infected twice, revised both times, and replaced 3 times, twice from infection and once from breaking. the shunt has worked pretty well, but i check it all the time to make sure its working and not broken.
