I have 5 shunts the year I was 4. The doctor put in a short one and that lasted eleven years. I had a shunt put into my left ventricle when I was fifteen and have had it replaced 3 times. My most recent shunt has been in since 2007.

So far so good.

Been happy with them.

shunt has worked, has had two malfunctions... seems like they come about every two years or so

First shunt was put in place in 2003; since then I've had a malfunction/revision every two years, and it's been almost two years since the last one :-(

1st shunt placed @ 16 days old, 1st revision/ complete replacement @ 13 years old. Both VP shunts.

My son had his shunt surgery in 9/17/07 and to date no revisions on his shunt.

It has worked for us he has not had any revisions.

stillens shunt has been infected twice, revised both times, and replaced 3 times, twice from infection and once from breaking. the shunt has worked pretty well, but i check it all the time to make sure its working and not broken.
