It has worked mostly but has needed revisions a good few times over the years.

was first shunted in 2004 and had 3 revisions already sinc and still suffer with bad headaches. i have bad memorie and balance and co ordination problems and i also have very bad depression which leads to bad angression sometimes

I had my shunt put in about a month ago and so far it is working! No headaches and my vision is almost completely back.

I wish I didn't have my shunt, I've got some hideous scar's on my head and I hate it when people I don't know ask me what that is on the back of my head, it makes me want to just ware a balaclava just so that people can't see my shunt, but it keeps me alive,

I don't get many side effects except headaches from time to time and pain in my tummy from the end of the shunt swinging around. It doesn't really affect me mentally as I managed to go to university and finish a degree but I tend to have short memory loss, though my surgeon says it's just normal from stress and lifestyle.

I was equipped with a shunt at 6wks. old. I have four children, four grandchildren, and am above average in intelligence. I would like for all to know that there is hope for your babies with this illness.

Her shunt is currently working. During her 19 years, she has had about 13 revisions. There have been some long periods of it working (10 years), and some short periods (only two months).
