Working / Worked
My Godsend! I've been on a moderate dose for 25 years and can't imagine having to do without it
Working / Worked
Am currently on 40 mg. I hate taking it because of all the horrible side effects (moon face, weight gain, insomnia, mood swings, constant hunger and thirst, constant bathroom trips)
Working / Worked
Currently taking for Crohns. On 40mg. Arthritis symptoms soon went away after about 2 weeks of being on it with the Humira.

This was one of the first lines of treatment the doctor put me on. It really helped, but she cautioned me that I couldn't be on it for very long. Without it, I couldn't walk or move. My mother developed Prednisone induced Diabetes, so I am not on it now. I don't even need prednisone shots anymore after the Remicade, and now Orencia treatment.
Working / Worked
I started out on prednisone, 50mg/d (essentially 1mg/kg for me). I stayed at that dose for about 6 months, and gradually tapered off about 9 months later. I had to go back on it for a brief course when I relapsed last fall.
It worked well, and quite quickly (within a month or so) - but side effects were nasty (anxiety, mood swings, severe heartburn, and a hugely increased appetite with weird cravings) were bad. Also, I was worried about long-term side effects (osteoporosis especially).

works better then the 7 day packs they give me.

I've taken prednisone for my bleeding retinas and other inflamatory responses off/on. It has helped me in past.

Worked well at 1020mg but now down to 5mg and it barely helps. Its the only med that has helped but the weight gain is ferocious.
Working / Worked
Don't like the side effects but managing discomfort
