You have to consciously be aware of the negative thoughts and learn to be more realistic and honest with yourself. For example: "Everyone hates me!" Correction: "Not everyone hates me. I understand this. However, I am having a conflict with Lucy right now. But I plan on talking it out with her and settling our differences."

I know the power of positive thinking and have always been an optimist; however, when my depression hits the point where I am done crying and I start not feeling anything, 'positive thinking' doesn't help me much. I am unable to positively think my way out of that rut.
