Plasmapheresis is the removal, treatment, and return of (components of) blood plasma from blood circulation. It is thus an extracorporeal therapy. The method can also be used to collect plasma for further manufacturing into a variety of medications. more at Wikipedia

Worked with some side effects still lingering from the disease.
I had plasmapheresis when I was in the ICU unit it was a treatment which involved 6 rounds it took a while to work it was like I got worse before I got better. I do not recall having them all done I was on heavy meds so I only remember the last round. It made me very weak and tired but the end result was good it worked.

When admitted in July08 it was so bad that they were going to intubate me with a breathing and feeding tube. I have MG Musk Positive still not sure what this means. Went into ICU for 5 days but on the 3rd day they gave me the plasma treatment and for the first time in 8 months i could lift my head up and my arms up. I had originally been locked in my own body not able to even wash my own hair. It is amazing!!! However I hated the chest catheter they had to put in to do the treatments.
