when I worked the program and got a sponser and worked the steps- OA worked for me. Hated the idea of never having another twinkie and eventually caved and stayed away- hoping to be able to eat in moderation foods which I know I can not. I have the HARDEST time accepting that some foods would be "forbidden". Need a new outlook.

This is a great program, and if you wish to know more about it, drop me a msg.

I was with OA in my twenties and it helped a lot. I have tried to go back, but was met with funny-acting folks, so I didn't join up again. The first time out, I lost 60 lbs.

went one time that was it for me. we were all crowded into one tiny little room and they talked about personal problems w/o any solution

Also Food Addicts Anonymous and Compulsive Eaters Anonymous and Greysheeters Anonymous! Lost and kept off over 200+ pounds but then went into relapse. Feared the "cultish" nature of things. Conflicted w my Christian faith. Side effects were a legalism that kept me fearing all the time from not doing it right.

Only works when you go to meetings!

I was in OA several years ago,but had truly not taken the first step. I now know what bottom feels like and I don't want to revisit it. I am working the steps and using the tools and as of this day, I have over 60 days of abstinence from refined sugar and white flour. I feel better and have had some relief from the constant food thoughts. I am more spritually fit and grateful for every day.

yes, used more in the beginning - gave me a good foundation and support. don't currently go but would if felt the need
Working / Worked
Probably one of the best things I could have done for myself!
Working / Worked
I just went to my 3rd meeting. I wish I had gone there years ago! It's exactly what I need!
