I love OA as I get to meet people who are real and honest and I learn alot from them. The 12 steps are the "rule book" I've searched for for a long time

I had been a member or OA probably 20yrs ago. I found it to be extremely helpful. You have to be willing to work the steps continually.

I was in OA for about 11 years until I moved from CA to TX. It was wonderful. The support of others who battle eating disorders. The recovery I found there was amazing. Now since I moved can't seem too find a meeting close. They are all over 40 minutes away and I don't have the gas to get there.

OA is helping me to realise that all of my reasons for acting out in my addiction are illusions - they are not real, they are defence mechanisms. This knowledge is making it increasingly difficult for me to go on eating compulsively - but I am still doing it :o(

too many restriction rules worked against my recovery

It works if you work it! I cannot do this alone!

This program WORKS if you WORK IT. It is hard work to recover and heal yourself. It involves going to meetings, being honest, checking yourself constantly and working the 12 steps....but the reward is a better life free of the obsession and compulsion to under/over eat and purge/diet.

I belong to a loop on the internet but I have not gone to the face to face meetings yet. I am going to go tommorrow morning.

Great for helping me learn to five control to a power greater than myself....so powerful.

I described my experience above. Also, it's practically free. I give $2 at the one meeting I attend a week. I'm losing weight and feel like I can keep the weight off and maintain with the OA program. It's great to have a friend/sponsor.
