Methotrexate worked wonders for me. I was getting a shot every week for 2 years. I didn't have any noticeable side affects. But what began to worry me was the long time affect this would have on me, & my husband and I wanted another child and as long as I was on MTX I was not allowed to get pregnant. So I stopped getting the shots and my Psoriasis was back full force. When I first started MTX it only took about a month and my skin was completely clear.

So far so good. Still swelling and a bit stiff, but I think I am doing better because of it.

Started oral dose in 2005 when I joined a drug study (big mistake, that study). Changed to 20mg weekly injections about a year ago. Good for my RA; don't know about affect on the lupus yet; minimal side effects.

Although I have problems with mouth sores, sometimes I think the MTX is the only thing that really helps.

was given this treatment while in stanford in 1980 and was told that later in life (i didn't care then, i said ANYTHING to get rid of the psoriasis) that it may cause arthritis......

I started this at a very young age and my dose was slowly increased from 10mg. I eventually was on around 20mg and after a long time on it its the best I have ever felt. It did take a long time to work around 3 months but once it worked I continued taking it weekly and I remained very well. My ESR rating was as low as 4.I did however stop taking it. Due to it making me feel ill. I was very young when I was taking it and I think a lot was anxiety etc but I was still taken off it.

It seems to be working however I am sick the day after I take it, my gums bleed alot when I floss/brush my teeth and my hair is falling out in clumps.
