Methimazole is a drug used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that usually occurs when the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone. One year anniversary Sept. 2008 of taking methimazole. Dosages have been increase/decreased according to TSH and T4 T3 levels. As of 8/l/08 I'm euthyroid. I'm hoping to remain this way! 7/09 Still in Remission

I noticed a change in about 2 weeks after taking the meds. I was not so tired and could actually go all day without a nap or just plain falling asleep.

Started at 20mg/day, was upped to 30mg/day, then back down to 20 and now I am at 10!

Started at 20mg/day, then 6 weeks later it was upped to 30mg/day. I was on that for about 3 months, then it went back down to 20mg/day and now I am down to 10mg/day. Things are definately improving. No side effects at all.

It took about 8 months to finally have my levels even off but after that I was fine.
