Methimazole is a drug used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that usually occurs when the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone. I gained about 10 pounds on methimazole. I didnt have any other side effects. I was on it for a year and they stopped it a few months ago to see if it worked. Its been 3 months and my levels are starting to normalize!

Hasn't worked. Now, March 2011, I'm in the same state I was in at the start in July 2010.

It helped me very quickly, but then I started itching and when I would scratch It formed welts, and my doctor told me to stop the meds.

Dosage increased from 5mg to 7.5 mg. Have gained 30lbs. But it feels like i am not going enough to the bathroom. My eating habits have not changed. Also my feet have the tendency to swell up and i am not as motivated as before.
