Methimazole is a drug used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that usually occurs when the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone. It is also taken before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy, to lower thyroid hormone levels and minimize the effects of thyroid manipulation. more at Wikipedia

Working / Worked
I've only been on it for a month. I felt much better for about 2 weeks after staring methimazole. I've been feeling worse the past week, but I'm not sure if that's due to my menstrual cycle, and if I'll feel better again once it is done.
Working / Worked
Most of the worst symptoms have disappeared, such as the panic attacks, rapid weight loss, chronic rashes, pounding heart beat, insomnia, and intensity of hot flashes; however I'm still dealing with irritability and anger and horrible night sweats.

this medication has worked so far, my blood work came back with normal levels the other day. no bad side affects.
Working / Worked
Was in hosp for 3 days for 1gram treatment daily. Face and torso were very red for a few hours but it did work. Now, after 1 month the headaches are coming back and on prednisone 20mg daily.

This medicine works great. When I ran out of it for a couple weeks though, my symptoms came back. I guess this just shows how well it is working!
