It is also taken before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy, to lower thyroid hormone levels and minimize the effects of thyroid manipulation. more at Wikipedia

No side effects, controlled my Graves very well.
Working / Worked
Took it for a year, was in remission for 18 months. Took it for another 18 months, in remission only 2 months, now trying a third time!
Working / Worked
My T4/TSH levels returned to normal fairly quickly, starting on 15 mg MMI and tapering off over a year. Was in remission for 18 months. Then after a period of stress became hyper again, started on 17 mg which made me quite hypo, tapered off and then stopped after 18 months of good labs.

Became hyper again after only 2 months (after a period of stress again)

Just today started my 3rd course of MMI, at 5 mg day, and my endo says I can stay on forever or have RAI, as I wish. What to do?
