Methimazole is a drug used to treat hyperthyroidism, a condition that usually occurs when the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone. It is also taken before thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy, to lower thyroid hormone levels and minimize the effects of thyroid manipulation. more at Wikipedia

I feel its worked in helping me with little or no side effects.

I'm in remission now. It worked really well. The see sawing of dosages as I headed towards remission was a bit trying, but overall, way better than uncontrolled Graves.

I have been on Methimazole and a beta blocker for about 2 months. It seems to be working...but I still have many symptoms...but they are workable. I am just happy to know what is going on and that I am not going crazy (lol)

This worked great to lower my thyroid levels, HOWEVER, it lowered my white blood cell count to almost nothing so I could not continue with this medication.

Had NO symptoms before diagnosis. After two weeks began horrible teeth/jaw pain and chronic sore throat. Numbers are better, though.

Was on 10 mg for about a year. Recommended I switch to tapazole for less sweats.
