Jade went to a special school from the age of 11,then onto post 16.Nw she attends college.Where she is doing a "Skill power" course.

A daily struggle. Pick my battles. He will only eat certain foods. I thought he would outgrow this...it is worse.

he has high function aspergers/autism and his daily skill are really good, he does alot and i have to help him with some of it,

We are continually teaching Brian to become independent of us. He needs to learn now while he is young. It is a work in progress. Now he does not have to be cued to do everything, or really look at a picture card to see what has to be done, this has progressed very well over the two years.

My DH and I work on this everytime he is with us. We have been working on teaching him to brush his teeth, clean his ears, pick up after himself, cook simple meals and think for himself without anyone telling him to do things. Unfortunately, his bio-mom has placement. Her influence is detrimental to this boy. She defeats him, instead of building him up. We encourage him to be an independent, self-confident young man. It seems to be working, just very slowly.

where he is now is working aon all these, he is doing really well with specialist provision, although we really had to fight to get it!
