I take rythmol (antiarrythmic) medication. I Have taken it for years and seems to be working just fine. I have had my AICD for amolst 3 yr.s now and it has not fired yea thank goodness. I work as a nurse and have many patients with AICD's I have heard many various reactions to being shocked by the AICD. Some say it was not so bad and others say is was horrible. Your doctor can set the voltage of the shock as they feel suitable. the pain is very brief and much better than dying of course.

I've had AICD since 1981. It has saved my life many times (I have primary VF) and have had appropriate & inappropriate shocks over the years. I'm proud to have been a pioneer

After the three attempted ablations, my Dr. decided to put an ICD in me. It has been a life saver

1st ICD implanted in 1991, Now on fourth ICD. Been shocked a couple times, Just glad to be here.

for some the heart meds after3yrs its making me sick,they think its a nerve problem.

I feel less worried about something happening to me knowing I have this protection. I have had the device for two years and have not had an episode yet.

working so far, in hospital for 9 days, got shocked 4 times before they found out which meds. to put me on. pray it doesnt shock again!
