A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). In many cases, surgical removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy) is performed concurrent with a hysterectomy. more at Wikipedia

I am going Monday, 4-27-09 to have this done. This is my third time through cervical dysplasia, so we are now skipping other tests/procedures and going with this. I will hopefully be having a vaginal hysterectomy with only my cervix/uterous removed. This can change once they go in to do the surgery though, so I will have to wait until I wake up to know what really happened. I will also have to wait until the biopsy is done to know if I have cancer or not and any further treatments or not.
