A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). In many cases, surgical removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy) is performed concurrent with a hysterectomy. more at Wikipedia

6/22/09 Was told that all of the Cancer was removed!

I had a hysterectomy after I recovered from all my chemo treatments. It was done by the Da Vinci Robot. My surgery was done in August 2008. It only required an overnight stay in the hospital. Walking hurt like hell at first, but the downtime compared to other surgeries was very minimal. I have 5 scars across my tummy, anywhere from about 1/2-1" wide, and they are fading beautifully!

It was traumatic. I became very saddened. I can't have kids of my own. I had a miscarriage when i was seventeen so I am grieving the loss. especially since i just got married.
