When i had the rod fitted it worked but as i have gotten older it has started to fail.

Had my surgery at age 27 by a very good pediatric surgeon. Very little problems. Just pain while sitting because of twist and being overweight.

I'm not sure if these are the correct rods I have in my back. I will have to double check with my surgeon.

I had a rod put in for 3.5 years, then I had it taken out, and had a stainless steel rod put in during spinal fusion surgery.

The rods were fantastic, I had a really good 12 years post op - it wasn't until my pregnancy in 1999/2000 that I began to hurt. I sucked the pain up quietly for as long as i could, sure it was the weight I had put on as I am extremely overweight. However I am now disabled, and unable to walk upright or without a cane. I am mostly immobile but still work part time and am waiting for my first revision surgery, hopefully before the end of this year. The rods I had were second generation Harringtons

I was 14 when I had surgery to place my rods. It was scary because I had maybe 3 months to grasp that situation and have the surgery. My father was told when I was 11 that I had scoliosis but thought it would correct itself and didnt keep up with the appointment to recheck. 3 years later while in middle school a nurse came and checked all of the kids in gym class and found me to have an 'S' curve with the worst curve being 56 degrees. I am thankful that God sent them there that day.

My surgery was 4 1/2 hours and it was the best decision I have ever made. I'm young, and it was really hard to not play volleyball for a season and miss half of my summer, but I got through it and I've never been so happy. My back hardly ever hurts, and I play volleyball and run and workout frequently. I don't regret the surgery, not for a day.
