We just got it last night. Going to start using it as soon as mega scan 2009 is done. Ive heard good things and at this point I have no other choices.
Will begin on 1/5/09
Dx Sept 19, 2008. Started Gleevec right away. 400 mg. Side effects are puffy eyes and face, mild rash on face and arms, muscle cramps in foot and sides, heartburn & indigestion & nausea. Extreme fatique.
I was just diagnosed on 11/24/08 with CML. I am only on Gleevec 6-days. I have had occasional nausea.
Most difficult side effects are swelling around eyes and night sweats
I should be starting any day.
I just started Gleevac a week ago and am experiencing much puffiness on my face and eyes. I have concerns and questions regarding this medication
I have only been on Gleevec for three months. So far it seems to be working. I had to go off it once because it reduced my platelet count too much. Now it seems to be reducing my neutrophil count and I may have to go off it again. My Dr. said that this is to be expected and happens to many patients at first but my counts should stabalize over the next year. Hopefully he is right. Sometimes Gleevec makes me nautious after a big meal but now a take half a pill with breakfast and half at dinner.
