Gleevec Reviews

Show: for
I was diagnosed with CML in June 2005 and since then I have been taking Gleevec with good results. My only problem is with my Anemia
I started Gleevec in Jan 2002 ..I had cytogenetic response till Dec 2006 when i developed a mutation... I had low platelets in 2002 April and discontinued it for a week , I also marked skin depigmentation and gained a lot of weight which i lost quickly post gleevec...
Working; side effects include extreme bone pain throughout the body.
I took Gleevec for about three years and it stopped working. Side effects were awful as I am sure you all know. I lost 85 pounds in the first year!
Lethargy (possibly due to anemia), nausea, swelling in the lower part of the eyes
Very few side effects. Miracle drug for me.
It worked for awhile but wasen't doing as good as the doctor wanted it to.I did have problems on it.It got to where I'd lose my sight in my right eye,I'd get my sugar up and it would return. Also had to take 1800 mil.of calcium a day fro leg cramps.
Gleevec worked great for me. Now FISH result shows resistance to Gleevec.
A rollercoster to say the least. I started the Gleevec in 2005 it has promising results I was even in remission. The real strugle was dealing with all the side effects and the cost. I have had trouble holding down medical insurance these past 4 years every time I cant get the Gleevec I relapse. It's a battle I deffinitly hope to win.
My blood count returned to normal within 3 weeks of taking Gleevec. I had terrible leg pain for the first 5 months and had to take both vicoden and ibprofin. But now, the pain only comes now and then so I'm almost completely off the pain meds! I've found that if I take the Gleevec with a piece of toast and a meal
wored 1 year
Working
I generally feell ok, I havn't had any pains in my lower left hand side of my back where the bone marrows produced like I got before, the only thing I have is that sometimes my muscles ache, and my legs. I'm still taking this med.
Nausea, rash, fatigue, heart palpitations at first. Now just a bit of nausea.
In the beginning Alex had alot of issues BONE PAIN was the worse and most common for him. Now he only has the nausea and occasional vomiting......BUT on a lighter note he's doing so much better!!!!!! his counts are looking very good.
