Im between postdocs now because my previous supervisor was abusive and I am waiting for my new position to begin. In the meantime I am trying to publish papers but can not concentrate due to my financial instability. Its hard to concentrate when you cant eat. And to try to make ends meet Ive been trying to sell some paintings online, but its not making ends meet.

Taking extra work helps stem the tide but it's not enough.

An intermix of ego, power, greed, pride, understanding and misunderstanding.

cannot hold a job - on disability - wish I could

I work part time and can't work full time due to disability

I lost a well paid 5-year-old job. Had loans and credit cards with no time given to be. Had my visa cancelled and was sent back home (third world country - though raised in UAE). It was at the worst possible time - recession had hit hard - came back on visits but found a 1/4paying job with great difficulty. Banks filed cases. Was in a mess. Worked my way out by finding better paying jobs. After 2 years today, I am in a better situation, more in control than before. Job insecure again.

Got a job awesome, yet stressful

I have a full time job, well paid, but debt repayment leaves me stretched and stressed, with no savings and poor financial prospects for retirement.

I have a job but trying to find a higher-paying one has not been working although I keep applying and applying... i can't even get a call back for an interview.
