I was diagnosed with a macro prolactinoma in 09/2005 with a PRL>7300. After 3 yrs it is down to 49. I too had fatigue but changed ENDO to get a DR that would prescribe 3 MG/WK (CABERGOLINE). I also started exercise and have lost 40 lbs (need to lose another 15-20). I've GOOGLE'd the weight issue and apparently the research is showing BMI increase as a symptom of prolonged prolactinoma growth.

I have been on Dostinex for last 6 months, my prolactin leve went up to 1600, now it is come down to 300, I feel much more better, have stopped gaining weight, but feling dizziness specially after meal.

Keeps the Prolactin at bay, but does little else for anything HPA axis related.

I could never tolerate a high enough dose of bromocriptine to lower my prolactin level. I couldn't tolerate the Dostinex either until I tried only 1 pill a week. That was enough to lower my prolactin to normal for the first time in my life.

Reduced levels, initially reduced tumor size

I have been on Dostinex/Cabercoline for 13 years. Dostinex worked like a miracle. My prolactin levels are normal, and tumor was undetectable n the MRI. However, stopped taking it and had to get back on it...most likely will be on this forever...but it works...

About 6 months the tumor shrank 40% :)

Is working so far

This medication has worked some and I am able to manage the side affects very easily- however the cost is phenomenal! I also hav a VSD heart mumur so the fact it can cause leaky valves worries me and my doctor for these reasons i do not take it any longer.
