I sold my car and gave up driving mostly so I can't get to casino which is just out of the city limits. I told my friends and family not to take me that I am in recovery. If, by some miracle I go again, I will call and have myself 86'd from the place.

It works if I keep on top of it. If I keep my available credit to a minimum (cutting up credit cards, canceling cards, putting money into a savings account that doesn't let me access it anywhere but at the bank) and realizing why I seek out gambling as a coping mechanism.

Avoiding places and people relating to gambling is pretty obvious I guess, having said that, these same places and people are things I am attracted to .

I have used Betfilter (www.betfilter.com) and it has helped me a lot. Side effect: The first 10 days after installing I was constantly thinking about returning to the poker tables. But with Betfilter installed it was imposssible.

It did work years ago when I hit rock bottom. I just stopped going, and had to work for years to pay back all the money I lost.
