I am using this now, keeping track of the calories helps keep me in line.

I feel that recording what I eat is helping me a lot. At least I have an awareness now of what I eat and the more I record the more I can learn about myself and my eating patterns. It gives me something concrete to focus on when I feel awash in emotions and confusion.
If you can stick to it it works.
