Balsalazide is used to treat active ulcerative colitis in patients 5 years of age and older. It helps to decrease inflammation in the colon by blocking the production of certain chemicals that cause the bowel to become overactive.

I have been taking the "standard dose" Colazal for 3 years now: 750 mg, 3x a day/ It BARELY keeps my symptoms under control, but I still have flares that last up to 3 months.

This seemed to work for a while. Stopped taking it the day after my wedding. My honeymoon was great. Was definitly careful of what I ate but still found that stress still caused problems.
