Carbimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism. It prevents the peroxidase enzyme from coupling and iodinating the tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin, hence reducing the T3/T4.

Carbimazole Reviews
Working / Worked
Carbimazole worked well for me, I may have been overdosed in the beginning but I eventually got my thyroid levels to a good place and eventually stopped them reaching euthyroid. If it hadn't been for a large nodule I think I would have reached remission and sustained it.

it has been working upto date, but I am now swinging to hypo. The doctor said they dont like to leave people on this medication for more than 2 years. I dont know where to go from here, am worried about the radioactive treatment my doctor wants me to consider. Is there anybody out there who has had that treatment ?

Started on 30mg/day and felt wonderful...best I've felt for years. Blood tests told a different story and it was upped to 40mg/day...with the result that I now feel horrific, worst I've been for years, but blood results are improving...where's the sense in that?
