Cord stem cells, rough recovery but no unexpected complications!

i had two bone marrow transplants the first was auto after my 2nd treatment ICE ifosfamidecarboplatine and etopside but i had a relapse after 2 month of the transplant but the 2nd one was from a donor and its been 9 month now without any complaints

Received Stem Cells from his brother. Was a 10 for 10 match. As of today, he is doing really well. No rejection and no signs of GVH. Side effects: Lost all sense of taste. Received Stem cells on August 3rd and still no taste. He still has no hair from the new type of chemotherapy they used. However, his eyebrows have come back in jet black. My husband had red hair and was fair fair skinned before. Kids are having some fun with them.

1987. I was 10 at the time, so I do not remember very much.

Received cytoxan for 4 days and TBI total body radiation for 3 days twice a day prior to transplant. Tolerated fairly well. Was in hospital for 3 weeks then was able to go home. Didnt get any mouth sores thank goodness due to some new medication they gave me prior.

Had my BMT in March. I am +61 right now. Had some GVHD of the gut already. Good days and bad days.

Much more painful than anticipated, have horrible pain down thigh during procedure

Not as long as I expected to be in the hospital. 9 days. So far 2 months home and can not go out to public places for 1 year. Lonely long days.
