Interferon beta-1b (marketed as Betaseron) is a drug in the interferon family used to treat multiple sclerosis. It is administered by sub-cutaneous injection and has been shown to slow the advance of the affliction as well as reduce the frequency of attacks. It made me ill initially. I finally stopped taking it when I had no neurologist to monitor my liver....I felt better not taking it.

I am sceptical about it's benefit. I am now in 2ndry progressive after ahving been on a few years. But, the Doc says to atay on it.

Was on it not long after it come out, worked well. Had to quit for 3 or 4 years because my co-pay was equal to my rent! Since I retired, I now qualify to get help for the drug and am glad to be back on it. Very pleased on how easy it is to use, lack of side effects, and with how my MS seems to react to my taking it.

OUCH!! Nearly a year and a half, but huge red welts that don't heal, constantly feel like I have the flu, Skin Sensitivity. Am going to try Copaxone. Nervous...
