The first counseling did me harm as they were not professionals & believed in emotional release. They did not see that I had PTSD & those techniques just retruamatised me and shut me down more, to the point I became suicidal. The next therapist diagnosed my PTSD immediately and treated me professionally, I saw her every weekly for over a year. It saved my life. My PTSD symptoms occur rarely now, are well managed most of the time.
