Alcoholics Anonymous is an international community of alcoholics who meet in groups. The primary purpose of A.A. members is to stay sober and help other alcoholics do the same. A.A. formed the original twelve-step program and has been the source and model for many similar recovery groups. more at Wikipedia

i have been attending AA continuously since November 1, 1993, and since that date have not found the need to use alcohol or recreational drugs.
The 12 Steps as outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous worked to give me the psychic change necessary to remove the desire to use the substances, also known as the spiritual experience. AA provides me with tools and a real time support network to help me through the rough times without needing to pick up a drink or drug.

Need to keep hearing the message and to pass it on to others.

I have a wonderful home group after making 2 stops at other groups. I still drop in for a mtg at those sometimes on a w/e but my home group is such a safe place for me. I just enjoy the group and firmly believe that I could not do this alone

Just went a few times looking for the right group must return because I think I may have found the right one last time but didn't persevere due to schedule

Yes it does work.

I finally understand how the Program works and it is a BIG help.

Like everything some are better than others some hardly mention AA and are more like coffee meetings

I try to go as often as I'm able. I now have Fibromalygia so it's become more difficult. I feel good when I try to help others. Maybe part of my story will help someone else? I know other peoples stories helped me. I'm hoping to get more active in AA meetings again soon, good sobriety meetings.
