How about this- an 80 something year old widow said "it" in a way I totally get.
My sister's boss' wife died, suddenly. He was at a party recently, talking to Ms. 80-Something widow, lost her husband decades ago, who said to him, "It never gets Better. You just get Better at It."
WOW. She's hit the nail on the head. I totally agree, that's it exactly. And I know, I can't compare just shy of three years with a man I would have married in a heartbeat, I would have followed him anywhere without hesitation, I know that's nothing compared with these marriages of decades. And I've only been without him a year-not decades.
But THAT'S IT: "It never gets Better, but you get better at It."
Applause, applause, applause. Way to put into words what we've tried to explain.
