One would think the New Beginnings title is for having my surgery and starting a new life. That isn't where I was going though they do tie together on down the line!
My youngest daughter walked last night in her Commencement ceremony! This is the beginning of her independent life, and ours too! We are excited! both Hubby and I! Amanda Was Gorgeous last night! she was one of a class of 400 to graduate, but the people doing the organizing of this event did it wonderfully! it was only an hour and a half long, and they managed to keep the sophistication and elegance of more time involved ceremonies I've seen!
To tell the truth I am glad it is over! It has been a lot of work to get my kids through school! Many people get their kids into school and other then bugging them to get their homework done, they really don't have to put much effort into their kids school!
I didn't get that luxury. The first one was just plain stubborn and we also got a handful of sloppy teachers right off the bat. She did some time in the National Honors Society, but she sweated blood often trying to keep her grades up!
The Second, is Dyslexic. He struggled from DAY 1 to get through each day. Teachers who just got fed up with him and told him he was worthless to his face...I NEVER had a good year with him, in school. We did all of the testing, and all the things parents are supposed to do for their kids, including putting in every hour necessary to help the child understand the subject being taught. I swear I put more effort in every year then any teacher, but 1, ever did as far as HE was concerned! When he graduated from an Alternative school, HE graduated at the top of his class!
Now the baby has graduated!!! she didn't really have to try, but seeing all of the work her siblings had to put into their schooling ,and then everything coming so easily to her, whiplashed. She ended her school career by needing an extra year. She skated along doing ok just by showing up for class, and then it got away from her just like she'd been warned it would! She didn't let it get her down though, she just pinned her ears back and got the job done this year! She learned her lesson. That's all a Mom can ask for!
So Now, we're DONE! And looking to the future! The kids will be expected to stand on their own and we will too! we can just enjoy each other now! I am looking forward to this new beginning!

Well congrats to your whole family. My babies will be graduating next year. So I hope that I am as open minded as you are! ;) It sounds like you and your husband did an amazing job with your kiddos! Pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
