I am here to tell ya'll, If you don't get your extra weight off before the "Honeymoon" is over, Be ready to work hard!!!! I am still losing, but it is SLOW going!
For all of you newbies who don't know what the "Honeymoon" is, It is the first 6 to 10 months post-op. This is when you will see the most weight loss. When this period is over, You will still lose weight, but it will slow way down, and you WILL have to work for it!
What makes this a LOT easier, is getting the "head start" that my surgery gave me! I was down to 166.5 this morning! I can wear size 11/12 cordouroys (without spandex! Lol!!!)
It is not only hard to lose now, but it is really easy to gain. PLEASE!!!! Be Warned!!!! I don't want anybody to panic, but I do want you to have a "Heads up!!!" Many people regain, after the first year. I'm pretty sure I understnd why!
I still only dump on high fats, and then when I do it is just an annoyance. it isn't anything to write home about...So I don't get any help there. I can eat sugar just fine, but I insist that I stick with sugar-free stuff, or "No sugar added". I also try to keep my sugar grams to 3 or less per serving. This doesn't always happen, but when I go over, I make a compensation for it elsewhere in my menu.
I am about 20 lbs from my goal of losing 150 lbs in the first year. At the rate I am losing, I doubt I'll get there in the month and a half I have left, but I don't care!!!! I know I am really close to my maintenance weight right now. I need to be below it so I know for sure, but I know I'm close. If I could get as low as 147 lbs, I am going to start "body building!" Lol! Then I am going to be a "Buff" and stuff! Lol!
Right Now however, I am going to stick with my Gym routine, and my Liquid diet with an evening meal to continue dropping til I get to the point I'm not comfortable anymore. Probly by my next writing, I'll be there. We'll see!
God Bless!

Wow! I can't believe I've been gone for over 2 months!!!! Craziness!
have been on a Plateau since I last wrote here. It has been solid, NO weight loss, No real gain either, Fortunately! I did gain some water weight, but that falls off fairly quickly. I will admit, my eating has NOT been what it should.
Yep! I have been naughty!!!! But I got back on track a couple of weeks ago. It took a little bit to break thru the plateau, but I am dropping again! At last writing, I was at 184! That was on November 14th! That was 75% of my number goal (that I am not really using right now...see last journal writing). Then 177 was my 80% mark! I am currently at 174lbs! I am well on my way to my 85% mark which is 170.5!!!!
So I guess I can say I lost 10 lbs over the holidays! How's that for putting a positive twist on it?!!!! Pretty GREAT! I think!
Things in life in general are going pretty good, I am still LOVING my job. Even more so now that the CRAZY hours are over from the holidays!
The kids are all progressing with their goals as they should be, and Nobody has been sick! *knocking loudly on wood!*
My oldest daughter got our family a years membership to our local gym! It is our Commumity center, and they have a BEAUTIFUL set up!!!! We also have free use of the swimming facilities, and Family nights! I am hoping this will be a God send this summer when it is so hot that we can't breathe outside!!! So far with this Arctic clipper that we have been dealing with this week it has definately been wonderful! the only cold I have to deal with is between the car and the door! Lol!!!
Well, I gotta go, hopefully, I will be in here a little more often, now that work hours have dropped off! I hope everyone is staying warm!!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss!! I guess I don't identify a lot with that, as I can miss a couple of meals and drop 5 lbs. However, thanks for the "nudge" which I need to get back swimming again. My Neurologist said that's the best form of excercise for me, and our Rec center has been closed until Dec., so now I need to get back at it! Thanks again for writing. BJ Dean (Bette)
Here I am!!!! I finally made it to the next step! not sure what the hold up was, cuz I've been busy and probly not paying as close attention as I used to when I had nothing better to do! Lol!
I am at 184!!!!! That is 3/4's of the way to the number goal I had set up months ago!!!
I am not so sure I am really aiming for this goal number anymore tho. I talked to my Dr. and he prefers I think more along the lines of looking for the feeling of being in the right spot. I did ask him how I should know what that was since I have ALWAYS been very overweight. His answer was that I will know when I pass it!
This could be a scary prospect for some to deal with, but it is a challenge that intrigued me! Lol!
I think my Doc knows how I tick!
I'll find that mark, but I am also going to stick with this Number thing and see how close the two goals come! It could be an interesting race!
I've gotta go get ready for work! Love Ya'll!

Hi- Krystal- (Can't think of your real name- is that it?) Good for you!! Good you have a good dcotor to work with you on this. It's great to set goals, and then see yourself achieve that goal. I'm still going round and round with my insurance Co. over their not covering my Botox injections. Will take more steps on that today. What a hassle!! Seems like my piano practicing "goals" have been almost buried by this continual on the phone, etc. Oh well- just thankful the Botox works!, Have a great Thanksgiving! Love, Bette

I know what you mean about the Honeymoon period. I am about 18 months out and although I am still losing, it is extremely slow and I have to work hard to lose every pound. I sitll have around 50 lbs to lose and I am hoping to get that done before I reach my 2-year anniversary in October. I doubt that will happen but it is a goal that I am attempting to achieve.
You look wonderful. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the experienced advice. My surgery is in two days, June 16, and I hope to lose 120 pounds. I will heed your advice and try and make the most of my "Honeymoon" period. I know this will take time, but I'm in for the long haul.
I've appreciated reading other posts you have made; you are very informative and inspirational.
All the best as you continue closing in on your goal. Good Luck!
