I Love the outdoors & sports. I enjoy playing tennis, hiking, biking & travel. I Enjoy books & movies. I'm continually researching epilepsy & cerebral palsy looking for answers.

Close Epilepsy & Seizures
My daughter Rose was dx with seizure disorder at 36 hours after birth. Rose is now a year old and currently dx w/ intractable generalized seizures. Rose has acute development delay as a result of seizures and meds. Rose's longest period with out a seizure is 14 days back in May 2007. Rose had g-tube placed May 2007 for failure to thrive and meds.
Treatments
- Ativan Somewhat Helpful
- worked well at first but no longer
- Depakote Somewhat Helpful
- not sure what side effects are accruing, maybe sleep disruption. It did enhance Rose's appetite.
- Diastat Considering
- haven't had to use it yet
- Dilantin Somewhat Helpful
- has lost muscle tone and po feed capability
- Keppra Somewhat Helpful
- makes Rose irritable and restless
- Klonopin Somewhat Helpful
- Rose increased secretions due to this med
- Phenobarbital Working / Worked
- med worked at first but then quit working after a short time & after prolonged use made Rose vomit ofton
- Topamax Working / Worked
- med never stopped the sz's & after prolonged use made Rose vomit often & suppressed Rose's appetite
Close Alcoholism
40 female, from alcoholic family, been drinking since early teens. I have a deep desire to stop drinking. Recently returned to AA and trying to stay sober one day at a time.
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- had sponser but moved to another city & we didn't stay in touch, called once after going back out
- AA Meetings Working / Worked
- Was sober 10 months in 06 but back out and want to be sober again for life.
- Sleep Not Working
- Willpower Not Working
Open Caregivers
I'm mom to a beautiful baby girl Rose Lynn born with seizure disorder. Rose is acutely developmentally delayed. I am mother, nurse, therapist and advocate. I'm sure there will be numerous other challenges that our family will face. I truly believe this challenge was given to Rose’s father and I by God to help us grow in our faith and become better people. Rose is the bravest and strongest person I have ever known.
