Close Fibromyalgia
I've had fibromyalgia for many years, but was "officially diagnosed" around 2001. Nothing that I take helps me get a good night's sleep.

Open GERD & Heartburn
I have had GERD for many years. I've tried many meds in the past and the only one that really works for me is Protonix (40 mg) taken twice a day; it doesn't work really well, but it's the only med that I've found that really works at all - if even a little bit.

- Used to work a bit, but had to stop when I started taking the Protonix.
Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
I'ved IBS for many years. I've taken a lot of meds for my medical problems and sometimes they make my IBS worse. So far, it's not under good control at all. I'm waiting to have some minimally invasive testing done to see if my GI doc can see what's going on with me.

Open Tooth Grinding
I have been grinding my teeth for many years -- to the point that I have had to get crowns on my molars because I have caused them to crack.
Open Kidney Stones
I have a history of kidney stones which dates back many years. We finally figured out it has to do with the water that I'm drinking (my urologist said the area where I live has a large # of people who have kidney stones -- something to do with the water). My stones are greatly improved, as long as I drink filtered water. If I'm in an area where there is no filtered water, I'll usually develop kidney stones about 75% of the time.
Treatments
- Drinking Water Working / Worked
Open Sexual Abuse
I was raped by my first boyfriend around age of 16-18 (can't recall much about age, "blocked-out" for a long time). I was sodomized then raped, all against my will. He then tied me up and tried to throw me in a small lake. He never took responsibility for what he did. I never told anybody what happened as I was ashamed and felt it was my fault. It took many years for me to remember all that happened to me. Now that it's out, I feel so much better.
Treatments
- Talking Somewhat Helpful
- I saw a psychologist and also a psychiatrist for individual therapy sessions for quite some time; sometimes it worked, sometimes it made things worse.
- Hypnotherapy Working / Worked
- Helped a little bit at the time.
Open Panic Attacks
Have suffered from panic attacks since I was abused (when I was a teenager). I've had panic attacks so bad that I've ended up in the emergency room needing to be calmed down.
Treatments
- Ativan Somewhat Helpful
- Worked a little bit.
- BuSpar Somewhat Helpful
- Worked for a while, then stopped working. Probably took it too long.
- Klonopin Not Working
- Had allergic reaction to Klonopin.
- Paxil Somewhat Helpful
- Started out working well, then after about 6 months didn't work. Had to switch to something else.
- Psychotherapy Not Working
- I found seeing a therapist made my panic attacks worse.
- Serzone Somewhat Helpful
- Worked a little bit, but not enough to warrant staying on meds.
- Tofranil Not Working
- Didn't work for me.

- Worked for a while then I must have gotten "used to it", as it no longer worked after an extended period of taking it.
- Zoloft Not Working
- Didn't work for me.
- Hypnotherapy Working / Worked
- Helped me control panic attacks a bit better. Showed me how to "calm" myself down.
