As of February I have now had a reversal surgery and had the colostomy from the perforated bowel reversed and I also had a hernia repair. I am doing so much better. I have had some recent flair ups of my MS. I know it is a short update
As of October 27, 2008 I had a emergency surgery cause I perforated my bowel. So after surgery I ended up with a colostomy and the surgeon said the cause was diverticulitis. I went back in for a take down of the colostomy and had to also have a hernia repair since my abdomin herniated in the area of my stoma and while in surgery I had to have alot of the scar tissue also taken down since when I perforated my bowel I ended up with paretonitis so I had alot of bacteria in my abdomin. I am recovering from the last surgery as of Feb 11 2009. I am supposed to be able to go back to work as of March 16th. I am having alot of trouble getting my stamina back so i walk for a couple of steps or a small flight of stairs and I am exhausted. I also have 3 holes in my abdomin that became infected and I have to have my husband pack each one of these wounds until they heal from the inside out. I am really tired and I think somewhat depressed. Living in northern michigan is very hard when winter seems to go on forever. I need spring now. We are supposed to go to Traverse City and it is supposed to be a great temperature tomorrow and possibly rain tomorrow. I hope I hope I hope we really need spring. Depression is not one of my support groups but with a winter that hangs on this long I feel like i should be in that support group also. well here is my update.
I decided to change my scope of getting healthy. I was more worried about my weight but have discovered that weight has only a portion to do with getting healthy. I have no idea how much total weight I have lost. But I am at least 10 lbs lighter and I am about 90% pain free. Now that is getting healthy.

I deal with the weight thing, too, and I know how that is - even just 10 lbs can make so much difference! (wish I could get that off right now - due to inactivity it just won't seem to budge) I love it that you use that phrase - "every day above ground..." - it's always been one of my favorites! I often say that when people ask me how I am: it's a humorous way to avoid answering the question ;~> which I find more and more I'd rather not with people who don't have the MonSter. Then they just laugh, and everybody's happy!
Yay for 90% pain free, and getting healthy!
