I too had my first dose of Humira on Saturday! I could'nt really respond to your thread, but just wanted to say hi and give you some support in hoping it does the trick for you. I was/am so apprehensive, like you. Its a big deal and gamble to boot. I can really understand your concern about catching "bugs" too. I heard on the radio today about some research showing that having a poor sleep triples our chance of contracting the common cold and that we need good sleep to protect and recharge our immune system. So hope you get lots of Zzzzz's as well. All the best, I'll think of you each Saturday, when I jab myself too!

I was diagnosed with AS back in the early part of 2001. The first symptom I had was that I couldn't open my middle finger when first waking up in the morning. My internist quickly sent me to a rheumatologist, who put me on Plaquenil (400mg/ day), plus Vioxx (later changing to Relafen and Nexxium). Since my initial diagnsis, my RA has been pretty uneventful, up until about two weeks ago where all of the joints in my left hand were swollen.
Treatments
- Celebrex Working / Worked
- Worked OK for occasional stiffness
- Hydroxychloroquine Working / Worked
- See comments on Plaquenil.
- Plaquenil Working / Worked
- Worked for 7+ years. Not so sure it is working anymore for me.
- Relafen Working / Worked
- Great replacement for Vioxx and Celebrex
