About Me
I am a 27 y/o teacher. I have had UC for about 2 1/2 years. I am amazed by how it can completely take over your life. I am doing well right now and hoping things keep looking up!!!

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in May of '07.' I have had MANY an up and down with UC at this point. I have been on just about every med that they have for it and I have tried a few diets--nothing worked. I am on Remicade now and it seems to be helping alot.
Treatments
- Asacol Not Working
- I was passing the pills whole, so my doc told me to stop taking them.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- I tried a gluten, bean, dairy, and ruffage free diet and that didn't work. I know that icecream, pizza, grapefruit, and pickles (acidic foods)make me feel pretty bad now though.
- Azathioprine Working / Worked
- Well, I think I found my winner! I have been on this one for about a month and I have noticed a considerable difference. Unfortunately, the nausea with this med has lasted the entire month!
- Azulfidine Not Working
- It's getting rid of my joing pain, but it makes me feel weird.
- Flagyl Not Working
- I took it for a few days and I starting bleeding. DID NOT WORK!
- Lialda Not Working
- I took four of those horse pills everyday and nothing!
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- It works like a charm, but I hate the side effects. They include: leg pain, weight gain, increased appetite, worsened eye sight, constant sweating, and swollen face.
- Probiotics Not Working
- I stopped...the blood returned. :o(
- Remicade Working / Worked
- I have heard alot of terrible things about this and I was nervous about it, but it is working like a charm for me right now. I haven't felt this good since before I was diagnosed!
Close Diets & Weight Maintenance
Well, I'm here for a few reasons. I used to be at a size that I loved, but I began taking a medication that caused me to gain weight. We have an on again/off again relationship. I have also noticed that my metabolism is slowing down and I am consistenly gaining weight. I know that if I don't begin consistently taking care of myself, I'm going to continue gaining weight.
