Hello friends! It's Saturday, and normally that would bring a smile to my face. Not today though.
I'm in another fog here just as I felt I was pulling out of this crash. I may well be pulling out, but my sleep was interrupted LOUDLY again this morning at seven with a huge THUD of the machinery on the street behind us. So, today I sort of lost it.
I had called the township yesterday about the noise so early in the morning. They told me that the ordinance had changed in 2008, and that starting time was seven a.m. and they could work until 8 p.m. OK! They also said they had no idea how long this project was going to take! None....no idea. So somehow, this morning, I reached my breaking point, or my boiling point, or both....and Bobby could see that. He got dressed and drove over to the site. (He didn't have to go far...they're right behind us). He talked to the manager.
Apparently, they are making curbs. ok. Then in two weeks they are coming back to rip up the road and start paving. So we are only getting started here. Is it just me???? How can the township have no idea what these guys are doing? Or for how long??
Bobby called the Police Department to querie as to this whole time thing. The police told him that they had no idea how long this project was going to take. Bobby explained that he and I were both disabled, and sleep was a key issue for his wife. Still.....they had no say in what happens with town renovations. They were polite enough....and answered his questions, but Bobby told the officer that he had worked in NYC and NJ in construction and the hammer never hit the nail until 8 o'clock in the morning....and nine on weekends! Cops didn't care...nothing can be done. So that's that!
There isn't anything I can think of for me to do, but to go to the third floor to sleep! It's cold up there, but I don't think that would bother me. I always go back to bed at eleven for a meditation time and rest in order to start my day, but that is interrupted by this noise as well. There are fourteen stairs up to the third floor. I'm just thinking outloud here.
I'm really tired, and trying not be cranky. I'm listening to jackhammers as I'm typing this. We're both snapping at each other this morning. What a mess huh?
I'll find the humor in this...somewhere along the line. I feel like a whiney baby right now! But I NEED to sleep!
This was just a total rant. I have to vent somewhere.....I'm so tired.
I'll try to go back to bed....they usually go for coffee around nine.....oh barother, I am not a happy camper today. Sorry!

Rant away! Now, at least, you know what their 'plan' is, no matter how stupid. Have you tried ear plugs or maybe heading to bed sooner, adjusting your sleep schedule? I know it's so hard. Sleep deprivation is not pretty so I send you fairy sleep dust.

Glad you vented Darla but sorry you had reason to do so. I know how I felt when they were building next door to us. All I can suggest is earplugs and hope that dulls the impact a bit. It's awful when something beyond our control is annoying us. I can empathise.
Hope you can get some rest.
much love Jen xx

Ay yi yi. We definitely need to find you some noise-canceling ear plugs or something! What a mess! it sounds like you've done all you can with the offenders, so all you can do at this point is find a way to work around it. I'm so sorry you have to do that, though. Good luck with this!! *HUGS*

ok, I'll rant...I just wrote a comment and my computer just froze...Kevin just installed Windows 7. Maybe I'll go to a mac as the comercial suggest...LOL...I'm sorry for the noise for you...I get angry too when someone starts their lawnmover before 8. I'll send you some of Kevins ear plugs that he had in the air force when he was around the loud planes. Good luck! I'm sorry that you are experiencing this..

I get it! I would be furious too. I need my sleep too and that would piss me off. I had to do the same thing a couple years back. I wonder if others are complaining. Have you tried going to bed earlier...not that you should have to? Hopefully it will be done within the next month which is such a long time for the sleep deprived. I love you D! Go to the 3 rd floor. Bring a space heater.

Even while you are ranting you are still so cute!!!
We all need to let it out sometime. I think there should be a law about disturbing the peace. Maybe a cat-nap will do the trick!!!
Oodles of Hugs and Love,

Darla venting helps! Sorry that the township has no clue about major construction and doesn't the time adjust for residential areas? I agree with other who suggested ear plugs and changing your sleep schedule.Maybe you can get a schedule of the times crew will break and the you can take some naps during the day.

It sounds like they need to get it done before it snows..... And now it gets darker earlier.
Still, they shouldn't start so early on weekends.
Bose noise cancelling headphones and a good recliner are what you need.....
